Marshall Franklin Carter

Marshall Franklin Carter of Abilene, VA, passed away July 1, 2019.He was 76 years old and was born May 8 1943. Marshall is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Jeanette Lann Carter; two stepsons, Rolfe Lann, Jr. of Glen Allen, VA, and Timmy Lann (Jane) of Buckingham, VA: two grandchildren, Logan and Elizabeth, both of Buckingham, VA. He is further survived by his sister and brother, Martha Jane Fizer (Dwight) of Roanoke, VA, and Wallace Carter of Clarksville, VA.Marshall was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Carter, his mother, Lessie Carter, and a brother, Ernest, all of Clarksville, VA.He was retired from Southern States of Farmville, VA, with 22 years of service.He enjoyed gardening and doing things outside.He was known for his loving smile and sense of humor; always joking with friends and family.He will be missed by all. Visitation will be held from 1 – 2 P.M. on Friday, July 5th at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Ave., Clarksville, VA.The funeral service will follow at 2 P.M. with burial in Bluestone Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions to the Charlotte County Rescue Squad, Fire Department or a favorite charity be considered.
