Marshall Webb Martin

Mr. Marshall Webb Martin, age 89, of Halifax, VA died Sunday , September 27, 2009 in Halifax Regional Hospital. He was born in Halifax County on July 26, 1920 to the late James T. and Alice Tatum Martin, was married for 62 years to the late Eula Glascow Martin, and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Surviving are one daughter, Alice M. Cole and husband, Henry of Virgilina, VA; one son, Wayne Martin and wife, Linda of Danville, VA; two grandchildren, Lynn C. Bowes and Robert A. Cole; and three great grandchildren, Stephanie A. Branscome, David Branscome, and Thomas Cole. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Annie Crenshaw, Maude Shields, Peggy Martin, and Lona Martin and five brothers, Wesley Martin, Claude Martin, Lacy Martin, Oscar Martin, and Joe Martin. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 PM at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel in South Boston. Interment will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Hwy 360, Scottsburg, VA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday night from 7 until 8:30, and at other times at the home of his daughter, Alice Cole, 1135, Ford Lane, Virgilina, VA.
