Marvin Cephas Overbey

Ashland, VA - Mr. Marvin Cephas Overbey died on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at the age of 81.He was born in Halifax County, VA to the late Mary Peele and Edward Cephas Overbey.Marvin retired from the Greater Richmond Transit System after 38 years there as a driver.He played the guitar and loved music, particularly bluegrass and gospel. Mr. Overbey is survived by his wife, Lois Manspile Overbey, and his son and daughter in law, Ricky and Kim Overbey of Chesterfield, VA.He is also survived by grandchildren, Dylan, Ricky, Jr., Taylor and Jamie Overbey, and sisters, Norma Elliott and Nell Daniel both of Virgilina. Services for Mr. Overbey will be held on Thursday, June 16 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home with burial to follow at Hitesburg Baptist Church in Virgilina. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.The Reverend Jay Baines is officiating.
