Mary Alice Murray Lipford

SOUTH BOSTON - Mrs. Mary Alice Murray Lipford of South Boston died Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at the age of 90. She was born in Halifax Co., VA on March 9, 1926 to the late William Albright Murray and the late Erna Talley Murray and was married to the late James Lipford. Mary was a member of Cherry Hill United Methodist Church and a former employee of J.P. Stevens. Mrs. Lipford is survived by her son, Michael A. Lipford and wife, Brenda of South Boston; and two grandchildren, Michael Drake Lipford and Lauren Lipford. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and eight brothers and sisters. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 5 at 2:00 PM at Halifax Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Pat Neilsen officiating. The family will receive friends at the home, 2249 Cherry Hill Church Rd., South Boston.
