Mary Ann Garrett Blanks

Buffalo Junction, VA

Mary Ann Garrett Blanks, wife of the late Charles “Bill” Wilson Blanks, Jr., completed her earthly journey and left to be with God on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at the age of 92. She was born in Mecklenburg County on November 13, 1930, to the late John Hammett Garrett and the late Virginia Yancey Garrett.

Mary was a graduate of Clarksville High School. She worked for several years at both Burlington Industries and Russell Stover Candies. Mary was an active member of the Eastern Star and loved going to yard sales. Beyond being committed to her family, Mary was committed to her Lord and Savior and was a faithful member at Clarksville Baptist Church since 1950, and prior to that, was a member of Grassy Creek Baptist Church.

Mary is survived by her son, Charles Jay Blanks and his wife, Teresa, of Buffalo Junction, VA; and by her grandsons who were the source of much joy to her, Todd Blanks of Wake Forest, NC, and Phillip Blanks of Buffalo Junction, VA.  She is further survived by a host of nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Roy, Ray, Basil, and William; and a sister, Jane Davis.

A graveside memorial service will be held in Oakhurst Cemetery at 2pm on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, with the Reverend Greg Randall officiating.

In lieu of flowers, Mary's family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimers Association or the Mecklenburg County Rescue Squad.
