Mary Jane Powell Cole

SOUTH BOSTON Mrs. Mary Jane Powell Cole of South Boston passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at the age of 69. She was born in Halifax County on September 2, 1952 to the late Troy and Lillie Sadler Powell and was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Chester "Buddy" Cole. Mary Jane was a bus driver with Halifax County School System with almost 50 years of service. She loved thrift shopping, yard sales, playing cards and talking on the phone to the ones she loved. She is survived by a daughter, Wendy Cole (Michael Crews); son, Bud Cole (Brandy Elliott);sisters, Delores Powell, Sandra Phillips (Danny), Janice Fisher (David) and Barbara Carmichael (Robbie); brother, Troy "Marty" Powell (Lisa); stepmother, Shelby Powell; nephews & nieces, Roger Martin, Michael Martin, Stoney Stone, Bug Francis, Lauren Fisher, Caleb Fisher and Samantha Carmichael; and her grand furbabies, Tillie, Zeus, Maple, and Bo. A private Graveside Service will be held at the Cole Family Cemeterywith Reverend Norman Talley officiating.
