Mary Loftis Murray

VIRGILINA, VA Mary Loftis Murray passed away on April 29, 2018 at the age of 101.She was born on February 28, 1917 at Virgilina, Virginia.She was pre-deceased by her parents, Zelda Walker and Wise Loftis, her husband, Adrion Woodrow Murray, and her siblings: Clifton, Graham, Woodrow and Henry Loftis, Ethel Puryear, Sallie Belle Murray, and Lucille Hardesty. Mrs. Murray is survived by her son, Gene A. Murray (Byrd) and her daughter, Audrey M. Harris (Robert), and her grandchildren:Stephen A. Murray, John D. Murray, Robert L. Harris, Jr. (Judy) and Laura H. Chesnut (Blair).She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: James B. Chesnut, Benjamin L. Chesnut, Robert L. Harris, III, and Kathryn S. Harris, and her sister-in-law, Barbara O. Loftis, and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Murray lived her entire life in the Virgilina community where she was a long-time member of Union Christian Church and a former employee of Virgilina School. A funeral service will be held at Union Christian Church on May 2, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. with burial to follow at Virgilina Cemetery.The family will have a reception for family and friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the church.
