Mary Geraldine Nelson Gravitt

Mary Geraldine Nelson Gravitt, age 81, of 8007 Florence Avenue, Virgilina, VA died Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Meadowview Terrace in Clarksville, VA. Mrs. Gravitt was a native of Virgilina, VA born on September 25, 1931, the daughter of Willie Willis Nelson and Lucy Pearl Atkins Nelson. She worked for Craddock Terry Shoe Factory and was a homemaker. She loved to quilt, crochet and loved tending her flowers. She was a member of Union Christian Church. She is survived by one daughter, Judy Carol Nelson Jones (Ollie David Jones, Jr.) of Oxford, NC, two grandchildren, Ollie David Jones, III (Anne Snead Jones)and Delta Jones Elliott (Billy Joe Elliott)both of Oxford, NC, three great grandchildren, Ollie David Jones, IV, Ethan Patrick Jones, and Jacob Paul Elliott. She also has seven nieces and nephews, James O. Nelson (Gayle), Mary Powell ( James), Alvin Nelson (Shirley), Debbie Dillon (Doug), Chester Nelson, Richard Nelson, and Chris Nelson (Denise). In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Ingram Gravitt, brother, William O. Nelson, and twin brother and sister, Emory and Elma Nelson. Graveside services will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Friday, November 23, 2012 at Virgilina Cemetery in Virgilina, VA. The family will receive friends at the home, 8007 Florence Ave., Virgilina, VA.
