Mary Cooper Newton

Mary Cooper Newton, 76, wife of Kenneth Garland Newton, died Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at her residence. Mary was born April 12, 1934 to John Albert, Sr. and Lucy Carter Cooper. A graduate of Clarksville High School with the Class of 1951, she was retired from Burlington Industries. Funeral services will be 11 AM Friday at Nelson Baptist Church with the Reverend Don Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by her sister, Irene C. Silcox of Richmond; and brothers, Sam W. Cooper and William A. Cooper, both of Henderson, NC. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Fay Newton and her son, Dennis Ray Newton. The family will receive friends 6-8pm Thursday at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home.
