Mary Snead Nichols

Mrs. Mary Snead Nichols of Halifax passed away Monday, April 5, 2010 at the age of 81. She was born in Halifax Co. on October 16, 1928 to the late John Hurt Snead and the late Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Childrey Snead and was married to the late John Thomas Nichols. Mrs. Nichols was a retired secretary at Westinghouse and was a member of Dan River Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Ann N. Moser and husband, Jerry of Java and Betty N. Wilborn and husband, Barney of South Boston; four grandchildren, Tracey Moser and wife, Mandy of Java, Stephanie Burton and husband, Mike of Blairs, Matthew Wilborn and Brandon Wilborn, both of South Boston; five great grandchildren, Holley Moser, Hunter Moser, Calley Moser, Ben Burton, and Daniel Burton; soon to arrive great grandchildren, Burton twin boys; and special cousin, Garland Childrey and wife, Mary Jean of Halifax. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 7 at 2 PM at Dan River Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Alton Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home Tuesday night from 7 until 8:30 PM and at other times at the home.
