Mary "Polly" Bowman Sandifer

Clarksville, VA - Mary “Polly” Bowman Sandifer passed away Monday, September 25, 2017 at the age of 81.She was born in Mecklenburg County on July 9, 1936 to the late Garnett Fossett and Shirley Lorenzo Owen.In addition to her parents, Polly was preceded in death by her husbands, Franklin Bowman and Bill Sandifer; brother, Irvin Owen and great grandson, Cameron Singleton. She worked as a cook at Hardees before her retirement. Polly is survived by her daughter, Frances Singleton of Brodnax; sons, Franklin Bowman, Jr. of LaCrosse and Michael Bowman of Keysville; sisters, Barbara Johnson of Skipwith and Nell Adams of Colonial Heights and brother, Calvin Owen of South Boston.She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren as well as her special friend, Barbara Floyd. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 in the chapel of Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home with burial to follow in Nelson Baptist Church cemetery.The Reverend Larry Propst will officiate.The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
