Mary Overbey Seate

Mrs. Mary Emma Overbey Seate, widow of the late James Elmo Seate, of Nelson, VA passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022 at the age of 87. She was born in Nelson, VA on November 4, 1934 the daughter of the late Lem Overbey and the late Lodema Parker Overbey. Mrs. Seate was a former employee of Harriet Henderson Yarns. Considered to be the community information center, Mary loved everyone and enjoyed talking on the phone. She had numerous grandchildren, but was a grandmother to all the children in the community. Mrs. Seate is survived by her son, James Seate (Lisa) of Halifax, VA; sisters, Lonie Bet Hite of Virgilina and Laura Newton of Nelson; 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Wanda Morris, and 7 brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Nelson Baptist Church with Reverend Norman Talley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
