Mary Shirley Watts Ford

VIRGILINA, VA Mrs. Mary Shirley Watts Ford of Shady Grove Church Road, Virgilina, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at the age of 90. Mary Shirley was born in Halifax County on February 1, 1929 to the late David Emory Watts, Sr. and the late Mary Ida Murray Watts. She was married to the late Eastman Bryant Ford, Sr. Mary Shirley was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church and a very active member of the United Methodist Women. She loved gardening, yard work and flowers. She especially loved baseball, softball and basketball. Being a survivor of breast cancer, she was very active with Bosom Buddies. She leaves behind a son, Bryant Ford; daughter, Patti Lewis; grandchildren, Jessica L. Martin and husband, Mitchell; Tyler B. Lewis and wife, Eirika; great grandchildren, Emory Lynn Martin and Slade Tyler Martin; and a sister, Nancy Jane Rodgers. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, David Emory Watts, Jr. and John Gilliam Watts; sister, Dorothy Watts Hudson; and son-in-law, Mark Alan Lewis. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, June 30 at Shady Grove United Methodist Church with Reverend Shayne Estes officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 2:00-3:00 PM at Shady Grove United Methodist Church and other times at her home, 1067 Shady Grove Church Road, Virgilina.
