Mary Yancey Vaughan

Mrs. Mary Yancey Vaughan passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Halifax Regional Hospital.She was born in Person County, NC on February 21, 1931 to the late H. Drannon and Bessie Y. Yancey and was married to the late Albert R. Vaughan, Sr.A graduate of Oak Hill High School with the Class of 1949, Mrs. Vaughan was a member of Aarons Creek Baptist Church and was a homemaker.In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Albert “Ralph” Vaughan, Jr. and her daughter, Barbara Leigh Vaughan.Mrs. Vaughan is survived by her son, Ronnie D. Vaughan and his wife, Janet, of Alton and two daughters, Mary Vaughan Griffin of Virgilina and Becky Harris and her husband, Dan, of Eastville.Her step-son, Darrell S. Suggs and his wife, Kim, of Cary, NC, her sister, Gertrude Sizemore of Oxford, NC, her special Aunt Lucille Chandler of Hanover, MD and her loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, Vaughan In-Laws, nieces and nephews and her best friend, Lonnie Bett Hite, also survive.Graveside services will be held at 2PM on Thursday at Aarons Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Joe McDowell officiating.The family will receive friends at all times at Mrs. Vaughan’s residence.In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to Halifax Regional Hospice, 2204 Wilborn Avenue, South Boston, Va. 24592; Midway Volunteer Fire Department, Bill Tuck Highway, Virgilina, Va. 24598 or the Halifax County Cancer Association, 1710 Jeffress Blvd. South Boston, Va.24592
