Mattie Elizabeth Giles Conner

Mrs. Mattie Elizabeth Giles Conner of 5196 James D. Hagood Hwy, Scottsburg, VA died Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at the age of 89. She was born May 23, 1922 to the late Joseph Washington Giles and the late Mammie Taylor Giles, and was married to the late Willie “Beezo” Conner. She was a homemaker and was of the Church of God faith. Survivors include four sons, Willie Conner, Jr. & his wife, Becky of Halifax, VA, David Conner, Jerry Conner & his wife, Sandra, and Freddie Conner all of Scottsburg, VA; three daughters, Irene C. Farris & her husband, Ron of Vernon Hill, VA, Judy C. Seamster & her husband, Junior of South Boston, VA, and Patricia Kelehar & her husband, Bill of Nathalie, VA; one brother, Joe Giles & his wife, Jane of Louisville, KY; one sister, Mammie Chewning of Newtown, VA; a special cousin, Hazel Clienhans; fifteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; two sisters, Irene Conner and Virginia Conner; two brothers, Edward Giles, Oscar Giles and Robert Giles; and a beloved grandson, Jerry Brann Conner, Jr. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Stewart & Rev. Michael Wetherington officiating. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday, March 23, 2012 at Brooks Funeral Home from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm and at other times at the home.
