Mattie Sue Long Brooks

Boydton, VA - Mattie Sue Long Brooks, 93, died on Sunday, October 2, 2016.She was born in Mecklenburg County on January 21, 1923 to the late Bessie Walker Long and the late Edgar Marshall Long.Mrs. Brooks was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Neal Brooks.She was a 1941 graduate of Boydton High School and attended Madison College in Harrisonburg. Mrs. Brooks worked for the U.S. Corp of Engineers, the Mecklenburg County Treasurer’s office, Lake Sleepwear and lastly as a deputy clerk with the Juvenile Court System.She was a member of Boydton Baptist Church. Mattie Sue Brooks is survived by three daughters, Nancy Morgan (Guerry) of Boydton, Sandra Brame of South Hill, and Patsy Williams of Easley, SC.She is also survived by six grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Boydton Presbyterian Church Cemetery.The Reverend Carl Bagley will be officiating.
