Mrs. Mary Maude Jones Warren, of South Boston, formerly of Alton and Harmony, died Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Halifax Regional Hospital, after a brief illness. She was born in Halifax County, Virginia on January 27, 1911, and was 102 years old. She was the daughter of late Frank Otis and Minnie Cliborne Jones. She was married to the late William Boswell Warren of Alton. She was a member of Harmony Methodist Church and a lifelong homemaker. She had no children but was a mother to many members of her extended family. She was a Southern lady of grace and charm, and was deeply loved by all who knew her. She is survived by two nephews, Wayne Edward Stanfield of South Boston, and Cecil Brann Stanfield of Wiggins, MS, and two nieces, Lanier Moore Cole of South Boston, and Dale Bates of Alton, one first-cousin, William Jones of South Boston, and one sister-in-law, Hattie Cole Warren. She is also survived by numerous other nieces, great nieces and nephews, and cousins. A funeral service will be held at 3pm on Friday, January 24, 2014 at the Harmony United Methodist Church, Alton, VA, with burial in the church cemetery beside her late husband. A visitation will be held from 1 PM to 2:30 PM at the church where family and friends may gather to share memories and say goodbye before the funeral.
