Melissa Ann (Cassen) Ross passed away peacefully on September 30th, 2024 at her home in Clarksville, Virginia. She was born January 28th, 1972 in Morgantown, West Virginia and the daughter of John Ward Cassen and Maragaret Ann Cassen. She grew up in Sykesville, Maryland, and graduated from South Carroll High School in 1990. She married her husband, Glenn Ross, on June 5th, 2012. She worked as an assistant Preschool Director and then a Teacher’s Assistant for Fairfax County, before retiring and moving to Clarksville, Virginia.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn Ross, her beloved dog, Milo (whom she lovingly referred to as Meatball), her daughter, Sydney Goss (Jeremey), her daughter Ashley Ross (Ovidio), her son, Owen Cassen, her sister, Shannon Robinson (Lennell), her brother, Brian Cassen (Chris), both of her parents, as well as a niece, nephew, cousins, aunts and uncles, of whom she all loved very much.
Those who knew Melissa knew she was a paragon of thoughtfulness, kindness and wit, attributes that defined her essence and influenced all of her actions. She had this incredible capacity to make everyone feel cared for and at home no matter where they were.
She was a very avid reader, and had already read 49 books so far this year. She enjoyed stocking her Little Free Library, and always passed on the books she loved the most. Her passions included working out every day, listening to music, going on rides around town in the evening with Glenn and Milo, and cooking for her family. She always passed on her favorite recipes and loved to host Sunday family dinners at her house.
She will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to the Little Free Library Organization in her memory.
