Melvin Willard Phillips

Mr. Melvin Willard Phillips of 2009 Aarons Creek Rd., Virgilina, VA died on June 20, 2012 at the age of 75. He was born in Halifax Co., VA on June 18, 1937 to the late James Henry Phillips and the late Irene Elliott Phillips and was married to Sylvia Tingen Phillips. Mr. Phillips was of the Mormon faith. He retired from Burlington Industries where he was a mechanic. Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Tingen Phillips of Virgilina, VA; three daughters, Susan P. Daniel and her husband, Ken of Sutherlin, VA, Connie Bray & her husband, Greg of Oxford, NC, Wanda Rowan of Virgilina, VA; one son, Alan Scott Phillips of Hillsborough, NC; two sisters, Linda Lambert & her husband, Wayne of Vernon Hill, VA and Jean Schraden & her husband, Tilghman of Woodbridge, VA; one brother, Charlie James Phillips & his wife, Sandra of Virgilina, VA; 6 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Robert Bray. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at 3:00 PM at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Hitesburg Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home on Saturday, June 23, 2012 from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM and at other times at the home.
