SOUTH BOSTON, VA Mrs. Meria Martin Harris passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017 at the age of 80.Born in Halifax County on January 10, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Dugar Vincent Martin and the late Ethel Lou Martin and was married to the late Stuart Wayne “Butch” Harris. Meria was a life long member of Scottsburg United Methodist Church and there she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and a member of the WMU.She retired from ABB after 30 years of service. She is survived by a daughter, Lisa Ridgeway of South Boston; sons, Kenneth Eugene Long (Debra) of Elletsville, IN and Earl Anthony Long (Gail) of Alton; 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; and sisters, Helen “Bea” Mingo of Seal Beach, CA and Rosalea Lacks of Mt. Laurel. Other than her parents and husband, “Butch”, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth Earl Long; brothers and sisters, Ruth Cockman, Douglas Martin, Bertha Doran, Marshall Martin, Clarence Martin, Lorene Matthews, Fred Martin and Nell Jeanette Martin. Funeral services for Mrs. Harris will be Monday, May 29, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Betty B. Jones Chapel with Reverend Kerry Halbert officiating.Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home from 7- 8:30 PM and at other times at the home of her son, 1119 Whitt Loop Road, Alton, VA.
