Merritt Woodrow Hunley

Mr. Merritt Woodrow Hunley, 78, of 1052 Cluster Springs Rd., South Boston died Friday, July 31, 2009. He was born in Orange Co., NC on June 12, 1931 the son of the late Dalton & Mary Hunley. He was married to Mary Langford Hunley. He was a retired truck driver for the Virginia Dept. of Transportation. He was a member of Black Walnut Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, Mr. Hunley is survived by a daughter, Kathy H. Wilkerson and husband, Robert of South Boston; a brother, Clyde Hunley of Mebane, NC; two garndchildren, Jennifer Edmunds and husband, James and Corbett Wilkerson and wife, Tara; four great grandchildren, Paul Edmunds, Caroline Edmunds, Lily Wilkerson, and Harlee Wilkerson. Funeral services for Mr. Hunley will be held on Sunday August 2, 2009 at 2:30 PM at Black Walnut Baptist Church with Rev. Raymond Wooten officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday August 1 from 7 PM until 8:30 PM at Brooks Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
