Michael Powers Allen of Nathalie passed away at Lynchburg General Hospital on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at the age of 66. He was born in Halifax County on February 18, 1957 to the late Marion Moncure Allen and the late Mary Maloney "Jill" Allen.
Michael was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and served on the USS Inchon where he was a purple shirt, those in charge of fuel on the carrier. He was a gifted storyteller and loved to make people laugh and always enjoyed entertaining. His knowledge of working on old cars & trucks was limitless. He was an animal lover, especially his dog Cricket, who has passed and Buddy, his neighbor's dog. He will be remembered as the one behind the grill at all the family gatherings, which he was devoted to attend and loved to be on the family farm.
He is survived by siblings, Tom "Bubby" Allen, Jon Allen (Diane) and Barbara Allen Scott (Bryan); nieces & nephews, Lauren Turner (Mike), Matthew Allen (Molly), Katie Scott Colgate (Clay) and Allen Scott (Paulina); great nieces & nephews, Emily, Lizzie & Tommie Turner, Benji and Sam Allen, and Madelyn Colgate; and a special friend, Christina Wilborne.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Jill Allen.
All family and friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service for Michael at 11 A.M. on May 18,, 2024 at the Allen Family Farm in Scottsburg with military honors.
