Clarksville, VA - Michael Karl Gau, husband of Lori V. Gau, passed away November 5, 2017 at the age of 66. He was born in Mankato, MN on September 15, 1951 to the late Claire Burch and Alvin Gau. Mr. Gau was a postal clerk with the United States Navy where he retired with 22 years of service.As a civilian, he worked an additional 20 years as a postal clerk with the USPS. He was a member of St. Catherine’s of Sienna Catholic Church. In addition to his wife, Michael Gau is survived by son Karl Gau (Samantha) and daughter Melissa McGovern (James),all of Virginia Beach; sisters Judy Mulligan (Mike) of California and Debera Baker (Patrick) of Virginia Beach; brothers Jeff Gau (Joyce) of Minneapolis, MN, Dan Gau (Tracy) of Crystal, MN, and Tom Gau (Jane) of Maple Grove, MN; grandchildren, Ava Gau, Kayla Gau, Alaina McGovern and Nicholas McGovern.Also surviving are mother-in-law Charlotte Peterson of Newport News, VA and sisters-in-law Linda Gasper of Putnam Valley, NY, Carolyn Turturro of White Plains, NY and Mary Zacharias of MN. In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his foster brother and best friend, Zeke Zacharias. A Funeral Mass will be said at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.Rev. Fr.Rogelio Largoza will officiate.The family will receive friends at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 7 from 7:30 – 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Lake Country SPCA, P.O.
