CLARKSVILLE - Mildred Thomasson Jolly died March 20, 2019 at the age of 97.She was the widow of John Maurice Jolly. Mrs. Jolly, the daughter of the late Robert Lee Thomasson and Grace Richards Thomasson, was born in Skipwith in 1921. She graduated from Chase City High School and Randolph Macon Woman's College, now Randolph College in Lynchburg. Her teaching career took place in the Burlington (NC) High School and also Clarksville High School. She was an active member and the oldest member of Jamieson Memorial United Methodist Church. Mrs. Jolly was a volunteer and awesome fundraiser with the American Cancer Society and later the Mecklenburg County Cancer Association for 54 years and more recently the Alzheimer's Association through Sentara Meadowview Terrace. She was preceded in death not only by her husband, John, but also by her son, Robert.She is survived by daughter-in-law, Masayo Koshiyama of Chicago, and son-in-law and daughter, Michael and Rachel West of Clarksville, and grandsons John Michael (Jess) of San Diego, CA and Christopher Richards West (Elisabeth) of Lancaster, PA. The family would like to especially thank Sentara Meadowview Terrace and the staff for being Mildred's home and family for the past 5 1/2 years. A memorial service will be held at Jamieson Memorial United Methodist Church on Friday, March 22 at 2:00pm. A visitation will be held at Watkins-Cooper-Lyon Funeral Home on Thursday, March 21 from 6:00-8:00pm.The burial at Oakhurst Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, Mildred and the family request that contributions be made to the James R.
