Mildred Louise Morris Rice

Virgilina, VA - Mildred Louise Morris Rice, widow of Claude Swanson Rice, Sr., left us to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at the age of 90.She was born in Halifax County on November 13, 1926 to the late Rosa Francis Fletcher and Walter James Morris.Louise was retired from Russell Stover Candy, where she worked from the opening date in 1972 until the plant closed in 2001. She was a member at Union Christian Church in Virgilina. Mrs. Rice is survived by sons, Claude Swanson Rice, Jr. (LaVerne) of Rock Hill, SC and Bobby Carrol Rice (Nancy) of Virgilina; daughters, Cindy Rice-Koons (Daniel) of Oxford NC, Mildred Rice Overby and Donna Susan Rice of Virgilina; grandchildren, Scott, Matt, Todd, Brad, Mark, Bill, C.W., Michelle, Bobby Joe, Trina, Amanda and Nicole; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Amron, Hudson, Tony, Caleb, Trevor, Hannah, Brittany, Austin, Aubrey, Katelyn, Sierra, Dixie and Summer and a great-great grandchild, Gracie.In addition to her husband, parents and siblings, Mrs. Rice was preceded in death by her son, Woodson Magnus Rice. The family will receive friends at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Avenue, Clarksville, VA on Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. and at all other times at the family home in Virgilina. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 10 at Union Christian Church with burial to follow at Virgilina Cemetery.The Reverends Frankie Reeves and Norman Talley will be officiating.
