Millie Shotwell Ford

Mrs. Millie Shotwell Ford, age 86, formerly of Roxboro, NC and Clarksville, VA, died peacefully Sunday, October 9, 2022 in Charlotte, NC with family by her side. Millie was born in Allensville, NC in Person County on March 10, 1936, the daughter of the late Robert Thomas Shotwell and Maude Tuck Shotwell.

She is predeceased by her son, Donald Wayne Rogers; four sisters, Irene Pulliam, Gracie Paul, Helen Tuck and Christine Solomon; and six brothers, James Edward, Elmer Earl, Kenneth Thomas, Robert Lindy, Clarence Huel and Stanley.

Mrs. Ford was a retired, 40-year employee of Burlington Mills Industries, a member of Grace Baptist Church, a loving grandmother and great grandmother. She loved to share her stories of growing up in happy times with her farming family. She enjoyed cooking and baking, canning garden vegetables, crossword puzzles and her faithful and supportive Church community.

Mrs. Ford was the wife of 29 years to the late Franklin Armstead Ford. She is survived by her grandchildren, Brian Lee Rogers of Charlotte, NC and Sabrina Rogers Gilliam of South Boston, VA; a grandson-in-law, Greg Matthew Gilliam and great-grandson, Grant Matthew Gilliam both of South Boston, VA; a god daughter, Debbie DeMuth of Charlotte Court House, VA; and dear friends, Franklin Rachol of High Point, NC and Chris Fuller of Charlotte, NC. Eight nephews and six nieces also brought immense joy to her throughout her life.

A Funeral Service will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Grace Baptist Church with the Reverend Jack Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in the Grace Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Grace Baptist Church one hour prior to the service, 2-3 PM and at other times the home of Matt and Sabrina Gilliam.
