Mitchell Allen Keeton, husband of Doris Susan Smith Keeton, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, January 29, 2014, one day shy of his 56th birthday, in Columbus, Ohio. Allen was born January 30, 1958 in South Boston to the late Charlie Harden Keeton, Sr. and Sally Elizabeth Newton Keeton. Not only was he a loving husband, father and grandfather, but he was also a dedicated truck driver. He was employed with Taylor Truck Lines, Inc. Allen loved the farm life and was a dedicated worker. Trucks and horses were his passion. In addition to his wife, Allen is survived by his daughter, Catherine "Beth" Keeton of Halifax and granddaughter, Haillie Elizabeth Martin, also of Halifax. He is also survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Regina and Lawrence Oakley of Oxford, NC and Shirley and Charles Kaywood; brother-in-law Samuel Oakley; sister-in-law, Kathy S. Keeton, all of Nelson; and mother-in-law, Catherine H. Smith of Virgilina. Allen was pre-deceased by his sister, Barbara K. Oakley; brother, Junior Keeton; and nephews, Dwayne Oakley and Jason Kaywood. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Nelson Baptist Church with the Reverend Jim McAlister officiating. Interment will follow in the Keeton Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 p.m. Monday at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home.
