CLOVER - Mrs. Monica Urueta Shelton of Clover, VA passed away on Friday, June 2, 2017 at the age of 49. She was born in Columbia, South America on June 27, 1967 the daughter of the late Dr. Enrique Urueta and the late Gladys Parra Urueta and was married to Michael James Shelton. She was a receptionist at the YMCA. Monica enjoyed cooking, swimming, flowers, and going to her daughters soccer games. Mrs. Shelton is survived by her husband, Michael James Shelton of Clover; daughter, Jamie Leigh Shelton of Clover; sisters, Maria Urueta of South Boston; Mercedes Dunn and husband, Mike of Vestavia Hills, AL and their children, Fallon, Kimberly, and Chad,Marina Urueta of Virginia Beach, and Martha Urueta of Lafayette, LA; brother, Enrique Urueta of Astoria, NY; sister-in-law, Amy Anderson and husband, Brandon of Jacksonville, FL and their children, Ashton and Hayden; brother-in-law, Chuck Shelton of South Boston and his children, Kody and Madison; mother-in-law, Linda Shelton of South Boston; and special friend, Zach Epps. A private memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 24, in the Brooks Lyon Betty B. Jones Chapel with the Reverend Norman Talley officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home. The family would like to thank all of their friends and family who have supported and helped Monica through her illness.
