Morine Elliott Rice

Mrs. Morine Elliott Rice of Virgilina, VA died on Monday, September 29, 2014 at the age of 92. She was born in Halifax Co., VA on August 1, 1922 to the late Andrew Walter Elliott and the late Annie Fletcher Elliott and was married to the late Clarence Drewry Rice. Mrs. Rice was retired from Russell Stover and was a member of Union Christian Church. Survivors include a son, Allen Clarence Rice of Fairburn, GA; a daughter, Iris R. Murray of Virgilina, VA; two sisters-in-law, Bertha Elliott and Edna Elliott, both of Roxboro, NC; four grandchildren, Greg Murray, Jason Murray, Keith Rice, and Allena Rice Muhammed; and seven great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Rice was preceded in death by three sisters, Hazel Morris, Lottie Harris, and Virginia Newton, and two brothers, Robert Elliott and James Elliott. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Union Christian Church with the Reverend Norman Talley officiating. Burial will follow in Virgilina Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 30, 2014from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM and at other times at her home, 1137 Wilborn Rd., Virgilina, VA.
