Myrtle Green Chandler, 100, of Nelson went to be with her Lord on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family and loved ones. Myrtle was born in Halifax County, VA on March 26, 1921 to the late Ernest Gray Green and the late Lottie Bell Rogers and she was married to the love of her life for over 72 years, Carl Thomas Chandler. Mrs. Chandler was a member of Clarksville Baptist Church where she sang in the choir for over 20 years. She worked at Carter Fabric in South Boston before relocating to Clarksville with her husband. She was a proud member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Gideon’s International Ladies Auxiliary. Myrtle was first and foremost a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Myrtle is survived by her son, Thomas Green Chandler of Fort Neches, TX; her daughter, Mary Chandler Blanks (Kevin) of Nelson; her granddaughter, Lauren Elizabeth Blanks of Lynchburg; her sister, Lottie Moore of South Boston; several nieces and nephews; devoted neighbor Shirley Small and special friend Peggy Currin; and her faithful caregivers, Brenda Burwell, Queen Coleman, Tracy Hayes, Tenia McBee, and Frances Pettaway. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her 3 sisters and 4 brothers, and her daughter in law Veronica Chandler. Funeral services for Myrtle Green Chandler will be held on Tuesday, December 28 at Clarksville Baptist Church at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Oakhurst Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
