Myrtle West Clark

Myrtle West Clark of Clarksville, VA, passed away Friday, June 16, 2023, at the age of 92. Born in Mecklenburg County on November 21, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Dewey Thomas West and Mattie Adcock West. On February 17, 1948, she married the love of her life, the late Lynwood Henry Clark, and shared a life together for 51 years. Myrtle worked at Russell Stover and raised tobacco with her family. She loved working with her flowers, was known for her chocolate pie, and watching NASCAR. She was an avid animal lover, but especially loved cats and lovingly took care of 26 cats. Myrtle could be found every Friday night for many years at the weekly dance held by the Ruritans in Clarksville. She was a member at Ephesus United Methodist Church, however, she also attended Jeffress Baptist Church.

Myrtle is survived by her two children, Brenda Conner (Doug), of Scottsburg, VA, and Curtis Clark (Deborah), of Boydton, VA; four grandchildren, Adam Conner (Patricia), of Scottsburg, VA, Matt Conner (Michelle), of Halifax, VA, Kelly McCoy (Andy), of Sutherlin, VA, Evan Clark (Amber) of Boydton, VA; nine great- grandchildren, Addison Conner, Sydney Conner, Brody Conner, Rylee Conner, Matthew McCrickard, Dylan McCrickard, Nathan McCrickard, Abby Clark, and Abel Clark; one brother, Jimmie West (Myrna), of Clarksville, VA; sister in law, Nancy West; and one previous daughter in law, Julia Clark, of Clarksville, VA. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Garnett West; and a special aunt, Berlene Yancey.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Clark will be Monday, June 19, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Watkins- Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, with Reverend Ian Rigney officiating. Visitation is an hour prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers, Myrtle's family asks that donations be made to the Lake Country SPCA.
