Nancy Yancey Arrington

Nelson, VA - Nancy Lee Yancey Arrington, wife of the late James "Dell" Delbert Arrington, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at the age of 85. Born and raised in the Nelson community, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Luby Mae Williamson Yancey. Nancy ran the family store, R.L. Yancey Grocery Store, for more than 45 years. In addition, she was a substitute teacher, taught piano lessons, was the pianist and choir director at Averette Baptist Church for many years and worked on the family tobacco farm.Nancy enjoyed her customers and Nelson community. She deeply loved her family, animals, especially her cows, dogs and the store kitties, as well as her flowers. Nancy is survived by her son, Curtis Arrington and wife, Michele; sister, Martha Owen; brother, Edward Yancey and wife, Diane; daughter-in-law, Doris Arrington; several nieces and nephews and special caregivers, Patricia Gause and Diane Adcock.In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Robbie Arrington and a brother-in-law, Marshall Owen. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, December 17 at Oakhurst Cemetery with the Reverend Jimmy Garland officiating. The family will receive friends after the service and other times at her home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a charity of your choice.
