Nancy Louise Gravitt Scott

Nancy Louise Gravitt Scott, of South Boston, went to her Heavenly Father on February 2nd, 2025 at the age of 85. Ms. Scott was born on March 10, 1939 as the daughter of the late Jessie Enos Gravitt and Mary Frances Gravitt Gravitt. For many years she cared for and assisted patients as a personal aide and companion. She was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. She was married to the late Fred Scott, with whom she had three daughters.

Surviving are her three daughters, Cheri Budzinski (David) of Chesterfield, VA, Sheila Womack (James) of Virgilina, VA, and Alysia Mitchell (Dean) of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren, Lauren Mitchell of Charlotte, NC, Kristen Mitchell of Tucson, AZ, and Tristin Yesalavich of Nathalie, VA; and her beloved chihuahua, Cupcake, who was her companion and protector.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Scott was preceded in death by six brothers, Harvey I. Gravitt, Clarence D. Gravitt, H. Newman Gravitt, Claude M. Gravitt, James E. Gravitt, and Aubrey H. Gravitt; and one sister, Beatrice Susan Gravitt Watts.

A Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 5th at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home at 2:00 PM.  Burial will follow in Virgilina Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 4th at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM and at other times at her home, 411 Valley Drive, South Boston, VA 24592.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Sentara Halifax Hospice nurses and staff, and Clarksville Health & Rehab staff on Periwinkle Cottage.
