Ms. Nancy Culley Morgan Matthews of 2100 Sandy Beach Rd., South Boston, VA, died on Saturday, December 21, 2013, at the age of 74. She was born on September 6, 1939 to the late John Leonard Culley and the late Annie Russell Culley, and was engaged to Kenneth Martin. In addition to her fiancé, Ms. Matthews is survived by three daughters, Debra Morgan Matthews of Halifax, VA, Nona Hite and husband, Riley of South Boston, VA and Jo M. Francis and husband, John of Halifax, VA; one son, Jason Morgan of South Boston, VA; one brother, Larry Culley and wife, Dianne of South Boston, VA; four sisters, Sharon C. Church and husband, Clyde of Halifax, VA, Lena Yancey of Henderson, NC, Ethel C. Everhart and husband, Ken of Scottsburg, VA and Iris Redd of Clover, VA; a sister-in-law, Cathryn Culley of Scottsburg, VA; eight grandchildren, Scott and Victor Matthews, Chris and Chip Hite, Beverly Smith and husband, Lee, Emily Seward, and Sadie and Carly Morgan; and nine great grandchildren, Arica Matthews. Jessica Balducci, Brooke Matthews, Lee Smith III, Elijah Smith, Mikayla Butler, Mia Morgan, Jayce Morgan and Marcus Seward. Additional survivors include her beloved step children, Melanie and Rusty Perkins and their children, Willow and Josh, Teah and Charlie Bayless and their children, Jon, Paige and Madison, and Keith and Sara Martin and their children, Brianna, Alex and Aric. In addition to her parents, She was preceded in death by her husband, Elson T. Matthews; a grandson, Adam Morgan; a great granddaughter, Maci Joy Smith; a son-in-law, Glenn S. Matthews; two brothers, Wayne and Jimmy Culley; and seven half brothers and sisters, Marie Snead, John Leonard Culley, Jr., Grey Dunkley, Alan Mason Culley, Gloria Russell, Marshall Grant Culley, Roy Glenn Culley. A celebration of life for Ms. Nancy Culley Morgan Matthews will be held Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at 11:00 A. M. at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home Monday evening, from 7 until 8:30 P.M., and at other times at her home.
