Nancy Simmons Rice

Nancy Simmons Rice, 73, passed away Friday, February 8, 2013 at Halifax Regional Hospital. Nancy was born in Mecklenburg County on December 18, 1939 to the late George Robert Simmons and Elizabeth Tuck Simmons. Ms. Rice was employed with Burlington Mills in Halifax County prior to working at the Corner Diner and then Wayside Restaurant for 38 years. After retiring from the diner, Nancy went on to work at MeadowView Terrace Nursing Home for the next 10 years, retiring in 2011. Mrs. Rice is survived by her daughter, Teresa Matthews and her husband, David, of Townsville, NC. Her sisters, Becky Rice of Scottsburg and Dorothy Robbins of Clarksville and granddaughter, Dana Matthews also survive. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert William Simmons. Memorial services will be 2PM Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Teresa's home, 15445 NC Highway 39N in Henderson, NC. 27537
