Nancye Jo Hobgood

Nancye Jo Hobgood, 78, of Dallas, Texas, formerly of Buffalo Junction, VA, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2024, at her home in Dallas, surrounded by family and friends.  She was the daughter of Joseph H. Hobgood, Jr. and Lillian M Hobgood. Jo was the identical twin sister of Christine Lynn Hobgood. The twins arrived on December 25, 1945 and what an exciting Christmas this was. Birth of twin girls and a beautiful deep snow made for a blessed Christmas day.

Jo was quite a “fashionista” as she worked in the women’s fashion business. She knew the latest trends and wore them well. Her career started in Richmond, VA, then to Denver, Los Angeles and Dallas. It was in Dallas where she and sister, Lynn, started their own business as Manufacturers Representatives. This proved to be a successful venture and they worked together until retirement. Jo traveled widely attending international as well as domestic markets and helped many small businesses grow with her creative ideas. Jo made friends wherever she went as she simply lit up a room with her warm presence and infectious personality. She loved her family deeply and returned “back home” often to be with her VA and NC family.

In addition to her sister, Lynn, she is survived by her brother Clinton W. Hobgood of Clayton, NC; sisters Martha Hobgood Davis and husband Bill Davis of Grand Prairie, Texas, Mary Hobgood Rowland and husband Neville Rowland of Lynchburg, VA; nieces Teresa Davis McKee and husband Michale McKee of Roswell, NM and Kimberly Rowland Cornwell and husband Ed Cornwell of Moseley, VA; nephew Scott Rowland of Christiansburg, VA as well as 7 great nieces and nephews, Jeffrey and Tyler McKee, Capp, Blake and Addie Cornwell and David and Ellie Rowland.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to her special caregiver Naomi Karie for her extraordinary compassion and care of Jo.
