Nannie Lee Culbreth

BULLOCK, NC - Nannie Lee Culbreth of Bullock, NC went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 14, 2020 at the age of 73. She was born in Granville Co., NC on October 8, 1946 the daughter of the late Jack Culbreth and the late Willie Lee Wilkerson Culbreth. Nannie was a life long member of Union Chapel Baptist Church where she was a secretary and a member of the choir. She was a shipping and receiving clerk at JFD and worked in the shipping department at Northern Telecom for 31 years. She helped to raise all of her family and many others and had a soft spot for Brittany and Gracie. Nannie is survived by nieces, Rhonda Hester (Neil) of Bullock, NC, Diane Ellington (David) of Oxford, NC, and Denise Whitlow (Mike) of Roxboro, NC; nephews, Chad Newton (Mary) of Bullock, NC, Billy Newton (Lisa) of Bullock, NC, and Michael Newton of Durham, NC; numerous great nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Faye Newton of Highland Village, TX; and a special friend, Deborah Phillips of Apex, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Horace William Newton and James Ollie Newton, and the mother who raised her, Annie Bell Newton. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Union Chapel Baptist Church with the Reverend Jackie Wray officiating with Reverend Earnie Taylor and his wife, Gunda. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, her family asks that donations be made to Union Chapel Baptist Church at 4433 Shiney Rock Rd.
