Mr. Nelson William Lacks, 95, widower of Joyce Morgan Lacks, died Thursday, November 26, 2009. A life-long native of Charlotte County, he was the son of Charlie Edward and Jesse Newcomb Lacks. An Army Veteran, Mr. Lacks was stationed in Germany during World War II. He was a retired farmer. Funeral services will be 2pm Saturday at Friendship Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry P. Jordan officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Lacks is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Iris and Carl Weston of Red Oak, Terry and Kenny Coomes of Clarksville, Alice and Howard Bohannon of Richmond, and Quita and John Keeton of Oxford, NC; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Linda Lacks of Chase City; ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. His sisters, Naomi Jones of Red Oak, Nancy Newcomb of Saxe and Dorothy Dunaway of Keysville and brother, Wiley Lacks of Scottsburg also survive. He was preceded in death by a son, Barry Lacks. The family will receive friends 7-9Pm Friday at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home.
