Nelva Cole Lowery

Nelva Cole Lowery, wife of the late Floyd Vester Lowery, Sr., passed away on Saturday, May 1, 2021, at the age of 91. She was born in Halifax County on February 28, 1930, to the late John A. and Ola Lowery Cole. Nelva was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church. Her hobbies included sewing and completing crossword puzzles. Her passion, however, was loving and caring for her beloved family as she was a devoted stay at home mother. Mrs. Lowery is survived by her sons, Floyd V. Lowery, Jr. (Debra) of Virgilina and Steven D. Lowery (Annette) of Timberlake, NC; daughter, Lisa L. Lindsey (Greg) of Halifax; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 4th at 11:00AM in the Cole Family Cemetery with the Reverend Norman Talley officiating. An open visitation will be held on Monday, May 3rd, at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home from 12 Noon until 8pm. The family will receive friends at Lisa's home, 1103 Dan River Church Rd., Halifax, VA 24558.
