Nina Thomasson Hand

Clarksville, Virginia - Nina Elaine Thomasson Hand, age 73, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 20, 2018. She was born on July 19, 1944 in Farmville, Virginia to the late James Henry Thomasson and Bertie Reese Thomasson. Nina was married to the late Michael Franklin Hand. She was a graduate of Bluestone Senior High School and Reynolds Community College in Richmond. Nina was a retired executive secretary with the State of Virginia. She loved to spend time at the lake and the beach; was an avid water skier, cat lover and loved riding and tending horses. Every available moment she spent with her family and friends. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Chase City. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, James Allen Chandler. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Lael and Jimmy Shaver; daughter-in-law, Dolly M. Chandler and grandson, Chad Allen Chandler. A Memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018 in the chapel of Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Avenue, Clarksville, VA.
