Norfleet Joseph Wright

Norfleet Joseph Wright died at his residence on August 2, 2005 at the age of 83. He was born in Mecklenburg County on February 5, 1922 to Walter and Annie Wright and remained a lifelong resident. Norfleet was educated in Mecklenburg County Schools, and graduated from Boydton High School in 1942. He served in the Pacific Theater in World War II. Norfleet married Margaret Claiborne of Skipwith. They had been married for 54 years at the time of her death in 2000. He was an active member of Boydton United Methodist Church and had been active in local community and civic organizations, including Boydton Volunteer Fire Department and Boydton Ruritan Club. He was retired from Gregory Oil Co. in Boydton, VA and then became a passionate farmer. Mr. Wright is survived by daughter Peggy Easter, daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Ronnie Owen; grandchildren, Joanna and James DeAtley, Jonathan Easter, Matthew Owen, Tyler Owen, and great granddaughter, Sarah DeAtley. Graveside services will be 11 AM Friday at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Richard Meiser officiating.
