Norma Overbey Elliott

Norma Overbey Elliott of the Hitesburg community passed away on Friday, October 7, 2022 at the age of 91. She was born in Halifax County on January 20, 1931 to the late Edward Cephas Overbey and Mary Peele Overbey. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Stephen Alfred Elliott and then her second husband, Robert Hudson Elliott.

Norma was a beautician for over 50 years and operated Norma's Beauty Shop since 1963. She was a member of the Class of 1948 at Virgilina High School and was a member of Hitesburg Baptist Church where she was very active in all activities. Norma also enjoyed cooking and delivering food to all the shut- ins. A special past time of Norma's was playing the piano.

She is survived by her children, Jimmie Allen Elliott (Barbara) of Daleville, VA and Alfred Dean Elliott (Ann) of Virgilina; grandchildren, Glenda Fralin (Jeff), Katrina Kish (Christian), Laura Arrington (Layne),Erica Willis (Christian), and Stephen Taylor Elliott; great grandchildren, Ryan, Dylan & Makayla Fralin, Brady & Jackson Kish, Parker & Holden Arrington; step children, Tommy Elliott (Elizabeth) and Rita Lannon (Bob); step grandchildren, Chris Elliott (Judy), Peyton Harmon (John), Stacy Elliott (Scottie), Ben Elliott (Christy), and Roberta Williams (Bud); 11 step great grandchildren; sister, Nell Daniel; special caregivers, Phyllis Carrington and Ann Yancey; special friend, Samuel Parham of Roxboro, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by both of her husbands and brothers, Cephas and Lawrence Overbey.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the staff at Commonwealth Assisted Living for all the loving care given to Norma.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, October 9, 2022 at Hitesburg Baptist Church with Reverend Ian Rigney officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 - 3:00 on Sunday, October 9 in the church fellowship hall.
