SOUTH BOSTON Mrs. Notra Goolsby Boyles went to her Heavenly home Monday, July 10, 2017 at the age of 99. Born in Summerfield, NC on January 8, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Albert Johnson Goolsby and the late Anna Venice Wilson. She was married first to the late Reverend Bernard Snyder. Introduction by family and friends in Greensboro, led to the marriage with her second husband, the late Bertram C. Boyles, and relocation to South Boston in 1947. Notra was a member of McCanless Memorial United Methodist Church and was retired from Halifax Cotton Mills. Survivors include sons, Ronald L. Boyles of Danville, VA and Douglas B. Boyles (Vickie) of South Boston; daughter, Gayle Boyles Montgomery (Wayne) of Monroe, NC; grandchildren, Stephanie Catron, Bert Boyles, Jennifer Autry, Johanna Langston, Amy Vassar, and Joey Boyles; and 12 great grandchildren. Other than her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Hilda Moore, Wilson Goolsby, Allton Goolsby and Norman Goolsby. Funeral services for Notra Boyles will be Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Brooks Lyon Betty B. Jones Chapel with Reverend Burley Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery.The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home from 7:00 – 8:30 PM and other times at the home of Doug and Vickie, 1080 West Oak Hill Drive, Halifax, VA.
