Ollie Addison Hackney

Mr. Ollie Addison Hackney of Halifax died Sunday, November 22, 2009 at the age of 85. Mr. Hackney was born in Halifax County on September 5, 1924 to the late Ollie Green & Bessie Taylor Hackney and was married to Hattie Gordon Hackney. He was a veteran and member of Dan River Baptist Church. Mr. Hackney is survived by his wife; two sons, David A. Hackney & wife, Vickie of Ringgold and Mark A. Hackney & wife, Joan of Sunset Beach, NC; 2 Step Daughters, Iris R. Seamon and Ilor R. Whitlow, both of South Boston; Step Son, Mitchell G. Seamon of Virgilina; Sister, Martha H. Powell of Halifax; 5 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great- Great Grandchild, 7 Step Grandchildren and 5 Step Great Grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Leaone Watts Hackney. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 25 at 2:00 PM at Dan River Baptist Church with Rev. Doug Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7 until 9 PM at Brooks Funeral Home and at other times at the home, 1015 Quail Ln., Halifax. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Dan River Baptist Church, 1228 Dan River Church Rd., Halifax, VA 24558 or the charity of your choice.
