O'Neil Tisdale Williamson

Ora O'Neil Tisdale Williamson , wife of the late Sammy Currin Williamson, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at the age of 87. She was born at home near Scott's Crossroads in Chase City, VA to parents Benjamin Henry Tisdale and Mattie Boswell Tisdale. O'Neil never lost her love for the area or it's people and Concord Baptist Church.In her adult life, she spoke often of vivid childhood memories rich with sweet stories from the past.O'Neil married Sammy on November 4, 1950 and thereafter became a lifelong member of Averett Baptist Chruch. Early in life she worked at Roses Department Store, where she fostered a love for clothes that she held her entire life.Working for Burlington Industries for over 40 years, she developed and enjoyed many friendships there and in her community.Flowers were her passion, especially roses, irises, and fancy daffodils.O'Neil loved to travel and enjoyed helping others. O'Neil is survived by her daughters, Diane Hudson (Tommy) of Dover, DE, and Ruby Mew (Dennis) of Sunset Beach, NC; her beloved granddaughter, Heather Hudson of Dover, DE; her brother-in-law, Claude Reese; niece, Gail Reese Harris; and nephew, Tommy Reese, all of Richmond, VA.In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by her sister, Estelle Finch Tisdale Reese. Funeral Services for O'Neil will be held on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home and the family will receive friends one hour prior at the funeral home.Burial will follow her services at Gravel Hill Cemetery.
