Otis William Cole

VIRGILINA - Mr. Otis William Cole of Virgilina, VA passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at the age of 85. He was born in Virgilina on January 24, 1931 the son of the late Robert Cole and the late Mary Seate Cole and was married to the late Clara “Nancy” Overby Cole. Otis was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of American Legion Post 8. A former truck driver, he enjoyed fishing, playing music, and shooting pool. Mr. Cole is survived by a step daughter, Judy Cole and husband, David of Virgilina; step son, Mark Cole of Nottoway, VA; two sisters, Clara Elliott and Eula Fuller; granddaughters, Carey Cole and Casey Sizemore; great grandsons, Brayden and Bennett Sizemore; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a step son, Michael Cole, brothers, Daniel Cole and Ralph Cole, and sisters, Sylvia Lowery and Eunice Lowery. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Shady Grove United Methodist Church with the Reverend Norman Talley and the Reverend Shayne Estes officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service on Saturday and at other times at the home of Judy and David Cole, 1075 Whitt Farm Trail, Virgilina.
