OXFORD, NC Otis Melvin Elliott, 84, husband of Jean Cox Elliott, passed away Friday, June 3, 2016 at Durham VA Hospital.Mr. Elliott was born in Granville County to the late Willie Franklin and Annie Bray Elliott.A graduate of Oak Hill High School, he was a member of Grassy Creek Baptist Church.Mr. Elliott served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and spent the remainder of his life as a dairy and tobacco farmer. Funeral services will be held at 3PM on Sunday at Grassy Creek Baptist Church with the Reverend Woodrow Freeze officiating.Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In addition to his wife of 47 years, Mr. Elliott is survived by his daughters and sons-in- law, Laurie and Lawrence Keeton and Tracey and Jamie Vargo, all of Bullock.His sister, Peggy Forlines of Nathalie, VA, brothers, Elvin Elliott and Owen Elliott, both of Oxford, Clifton Elliott of Nelson, VA and Ralph Elliott of Bullock and granddaugthers, Heather and Caitlyn Keeton and Ashley Vargo also survive.He was preceded in death by his siblings, Robert, James, Julius and Garland Elliott, Lucille Puryear, and Gail Wade.The family will receive friends from 2-3PM at the church on Sunday.
