Ottie Whitlow Comer

Mrs. Ottie Whitlow Comer of 4059 North Fork Church Road, Virgilina died Monday, January 10, 2011 at the age of 85. She was born in Halifax Co. on January 19, 1925 to the late George Thomas Whitlow and the late Carrie Carmichael Whitlow and was married to Hester G. Comer. She was a homemaker and a retired Lab Tech. at Burlington Industries. Mrs. Comer was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband; two sons, William "Billy" Comer and wife, Martie and Danny F. Comer and wife, Debra, both of South Boston; a daughter, Janet C. Poole of Virgilina; a sister, Lestie W. Talley of Virgilina; five grandsons, Michael Poole, Tommy Poole, Kenny Poole, Jason Comer, and Travis Comer; a granddaughter, Holly Oliver; two step granddaughters, Wendy Oakley and husband, Herb and Shannon Childress and husband, Andy; 9 great grandchildren; and 4 step great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl T. Whitlow, Theodore L. Whitlow, and James H. Whitlow; two sisters, Elizabeth Whitlow and Sallie W. Elliott; and a son-in-law, Arthur Poole. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2010 at 2:00 PM at North Fork Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home Wednesday night from 6:30 PM until 8:00 PM and at other times at the home.
