Owen Elburne "Moose" Poole

SOUTH BOSTON Mr. Owen Elburne “Moose” Poole, husband of Gracie Weatherford Poole, passed away at his home on Monday, April 1, 2019 at the age of 83.Born in Halifax County on January 5, 1936, he was the son of the late Aubrey and Mary Ann Ford Poole. Owen loved baseball, fishing, hunting and loved to crack walnuts. He was employed with NF & D/ Norfolk & Southern Railroad for 40 years and was a member of Union Christian Church. In addition to his wife, Gracie, he is survived by a son, Owen Edward “Eddie” Poole; daughter, Melissa “Missy” Poole Newton; grandchildren, Robert Edward Poole, Jeremy Zayne Poole, Brianna Newton, Brock Owen Poole, Joshua David Howerton, and Ryan Trent Howerton; great grandson, Brantley Edward Poole; and a sister, Ophelia Ann Poole. He was preceded in death by his parents; and several brothers & sisters. Funeral Services for Owen Poole will be Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Brooks Lyon Betty B. Jones Chapel With Reverend Norman Talley officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 1:00-2:00 PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home and at other times the home, 6098 Huell Matthews Hwy. South Boston.
