Paul Douglas "Doug" Poole

Paul Douglas "Doug" Poole of South Boston passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, November 12, 2023. He was born in Halifax County on April 23, 1952, to Truiet S. Poole and Mary Hite Poole.  He is survived by his wife, Vickie Tillotson Poole.

Doug received his Bachelor's Degree from Averett University and was employed as Associate Professor at Danville Community College for 22 years.  He enjoyed teaching and loved his students.  He was an avid motorcycle rider and enjoyed travelling, bird hunting, camping, boating, skiing and playing piano. He was a Boy Scout leader for Troop 402 and a member of Mt. Cana Church.

He is survived by his wife, Vickie of 48 years; children, Karen Poole Schmidt (Zach), and Kevin Poole (Melissa); grandchildren, Jackson, Caroline, Macie, Marissa and Grayson; sister, Kathy P. Evans (Robert); sister-in-law, Cindy Caudle (Herbert), brother-in-law, Chuck Tillotson (Angie), sister-in-law Susan Tillotson (Rose); beloved nieces & nephews and great nieces & great nephews.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a brother, Donnie Poole.

Funeral Services will be  held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Mt. Cana Church with Pastor Mike West officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, from 6 PM - 8 PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home and other times at his home.
